The George has been a South Melbourne local since around 1865, and reopened in mid-2025 under publican Scott Connolly (also behind Orrong Hotel and Healesville Hotel) after a major refurbishment, restoring its original pub character with a modern twist.
You will find elevated modern pub fare with Asian accents by chef Steve Svenson, including standout dishes like chicken parma served on the bone, sticky prawns, lamb shoulder, jungle curry barramundi, vegetarian lasagne and burrata with chilli oil.
Weekly deals include Thursday steak night ($27), Sunday roast all day ($29), and parma-and-pot night.
