The John Curtin Hotel, affectionately known as "The Curtin," is a historic pub and live music venue located at 29 Lygon Street, Carlton, Victoria, Australia.
Established around 1860, it was originally named The Lygon Hotel and was renamed in 1971 to honor Australia's 14th Prime Minister, John Curtin.
The venue has long been associated with the labor movement, serving as a popular gathering spot for union members and political figures, including former Prime Minister Bob Hawke.
In addition to its rich political history, The Curtin has been a cornerstone of Melbourne's vibrant live music scene.
The front bar is open late and always free. Friday & Saturday nights there's always a DJ showing off their vinyl collection, it's common to find Manchild or Lady Love Potion spinning tunes.
The venue's 300-capacity bandroom hosts a diverse array of local and international artists. Over the years, it has built a reputation for supporting both established and emerging musicians.
