The National Hotel is a standout modern pub located at 340–344 Victoria Street, Richmond, VIC 3121, on Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country, and is affectionately known locally as “the Nash”.

Originally a Victorian-era pub, the National underwent a dramatic renovation in 2011, stripping the hundred-year-old shell to its original bones before redesigning it into a robust, utilitarian space.

The interior was divided into five 'provinces', all unified by a monumental central bar stretching the length of the building to efficiently serve all zones.

The kitchen offers an elevated pan-Asian-influenced pub menu, reflecting the nearby “Little Vietnam” district of Victoria Street. Popular dishes include porterhouse steak, dumplings, lasagne, parma and Asian-style canapés, all with a refined twist by head chef Bobby Gogna.

Atmosphere-wise, it’s a community-focused, friendly venue, ideal for a post-work drink, date night, or group gatherings. The beer garden, strung with lanterns and heated for cooler months, is especially loved on sunny weekends.

Happy hour runs from 4–7 pm, Tuesday to Friday, while Tuesday hosts trivia nights, Wednesday is parma/lasagne night, and Thursday is steak night with discounts on drinks.
