Launched in the early 1990s as Melbourne’s first small laneway bar, created by Six Degrees Architects using recycled materials and a tight budget, no external signage, spontaneous fit-out.

Revered as Melbourne’s original laneway bar, a catalyst for the city's vibrant street-bar culture.

Won the?1997 Melbourne Prize, recognising its architectural and cultural contribution.

Food and Drinks

Focused beverage offering: a few beer taps (cohesive local lagers/ales like Furphy, Little Creatures), tight wine list, and classic Melbourne Bitter longnecks.
No full kitchen—only basic bar snacks; adjacent venues such as The Waiters Club (Italian) and Loop Roof (adjacent rooftop bar) offer more dining/drinking options.
Frequently doubles as a mini cultural venue with comedy nights, folk salon evenings, DJs, book events, and art installations echoing its creative roots.
