About Barron River Hotel
The Barron River is one of the oldest, if not the oldest, hotels in Cairns. It was first built as a lodging house in 1887 for local timber yard workers.
The Tully family then opened it as a hotel in 1927. It has a long and rich history etched into the fabric of the hotel.
The verandah is a great place to relax. It overlooks the old timber mill and the rail lines where the Kuranda Railway journeys past each day, laden with tourists.
The bistro menu uses the season's freshest ingredients, combining succulent seafood, mouth-watering steaks, and prime local produce.
The gaming room has pokies machines to spin. Popular are Lightning Cash & Dragon Cash games.
