The Grand Hotel Childers, located at 110 Churchill Street, is a heritage-listed establishment that has been a cornerstone of the Childers community since its construction in 1892.

Designed by German-born architect Anton Hettrich, the hotel is notable for its brick construction, which allowed it to withstand the devastating 1902 fire that destroyed much of the town's timber structures.

Over the years, the Grand Hotel has maintained its historical charm while offering modern amenities to guests and locals alike.

The Bistro

The Carriageway Bistro within the Grand Hotel offers a diverse menu catering to various tastes:

• Lunch Specials are available from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM and feature items like the Chicken Schnitzel Burger, Vegetarian Burger (GF), Steak Sandwich, and Beef Burger.
• Seafood Options: Including Wild Barramundi, Tempura Prawn Cutlets, Salt & Pepper Squid, and a Seafood Basket.
• Kids' Menu: Dishes such as Crumbed Fish and chips, Crumbed Chicken and chips, Ham and pineapple Pizza, and Spaghetti Bolognese are all priced at $10.
• Dinner Service: Runs from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with the bistro closed on Sunday evenings and Monday and Tuesday lunches.
• Special Dietary Needs: Gluten-free options are available, and the staff accommodates special dietary requirements upon request.

The bistro also features the Mongrel Menu, offering hearty meals with a challenge: finish the dish in under an hour to earn a commemorative stubby cooler and a spot on the Mongrel Menu Honour Board.

The Grand Hotel boasts eight beers on tap, including VB, XXXX Gold, Great Northern varieties, Iron Jack, Guinness, Furphy, and their own Grand Lager.

The venue includes a public bar, a gaming lounge with modern poker machines, and a tropical beer garden equipped with big-screen TVs and a pool table. Dogs are welcome in the beer garden, provided they are on a leash.
