Cumberland Hotel
About Cumberland Hotel
The Cumberland Hotel is widely recognised as Victoria’s oldest weatherboard pub, opening its doors in 1861 as a Cobb & Co staging post.
It has served as a social hub for over 150 years, hosting local discourse, celebrations, music, and community life in Smeaton and surrounding areas.
Signature pub meals include chargrilled porterhouse steak, ploughman’s boards, chicken satay, cauliflower bites, house-made desserts, and local produce sourced from nearby providers in Daylesford and Creswick.
The beer garden, surrounded by hydrangeas, provides a lovely alfresco dining experience, especially when paired with local live music on weekends.
Offers a well-stocked bar with beer, wine, spirits, and coffee service from the bar area to loungeroom-style seating. The hotel has become a welcoming gathering place, with picnic blankets available for outdoor dining in the beer garden.
Offers weekly specials (e.g. steak nights or share-plate promotions), local music events, and community gatherings in its garden or lounge areas.
The gaming lounge has pokies machines and other bar games to play.
The sports bar is where you can watch live sports and bet at the TAB facility.
